Checkout & Library Usage Policy
Library materials are checked out for a period of two weeks. Books are stamped with the due date in the back at the time of check out. It is the responsibility of the student to be aware of the due date and return or renew the material/s.
When students enter the library, they will need to sign-in on the Google Form at the circulation desk. When students leave the library, they need to sign-out.
Materials may be renewed if the student still needs them. Materials must be brought into the library media center in order to be renewed.
Nelson County High Library Media Center does NOT charge fines for overdue books. However, students are expected to pay for lost books.
The Nelson County High Library Media Center staff attempts to work with the student to get overdue books back within a reasonable time. The staff may talk directly with the student and their English teacher, if applicable, call the student’s home and send letters. However, once a student pays for the lost book, a refund will not be given after one week for books that are later found.
Students with books two weeks overdue will receive a detention. One month past the due date, the student must either produce or pay for the book. Failure to do so will result in detention until the matter is settled.
Students who have lost a book will be restricted to one book per checkout for the remainder of the school year.
Security System Violations
Any student triggering the security alarm system by exiting with a book that has not been checked out will receive a detention. Repeat offenders will be subject to loss of library privileges, detention and suspension.
